MINT Society for Iranians with Physical Handicaps delivers assistive devices to people with disabilities in Iran and provides rehabilitation to help them lead independent lives. It also aims to promote exchange between people in Japan and Iranians with disabilities and their families, so that each country understands the other's culture and way of life.
In Iran, the Mint Rehabilitation Center, opened in Karaj in December 2022, is at the heart of its work. According to its newsletters, registered users grew to 62 in July 2024 and 73 in August 2025, and with support from Japan's ODA the center improved its facilities and opened a rehabilitation clinic with the approval of the Alborz Province welfare office. The August 2026 newsletter says the center is now also open in the afternoons to increase users, operating six days a week with two physical therapists, one clerk, two staff and one driver.
In Japan, it works with local communities and other organizations on events such as the "Hadano Multicultural Square" (co-hosted with the Yokohama NGO Network and others) and on exchange opportunities where foreign residents, people with disabilities and citizens cook together and enjoy universal sports. MINT Society marked its 15th anniversary in 2025.

- Supports independence for people with disabilities through assistive devices and rehabilitation
- Also holds multicultural exchange events and shares videos in Japan
Why this organization's work stands out
It has created a local hub where people with disabilities, families, the community and the government come together. Even amid difficulties such as power outages and rising prices, it continues to add staff and improve facilities.
Alongside its overseas support, it builds exchange with disability organizations and foreign residents in Japan. This makes it a useful reference as an effort to broaden international understanding both at home and abroad.

Editor's comment
