The Association for Desert Planting Volunteer is a general incorporated association based in Oshu City, Iwate Prefecture. It describes itself as a group that practices desert tree planting in pursuit of a "symbiotic earth" while seeking a major shift in modern civilization. Its official website introduces the history of its activities since 1973.
Its blog includes posts such as "To Mongolia for planting again this year," suggesting that it has worked on planting in Mongolia. In June 2017 it also announced that it had carried out the "Sun Forest Planting Project." The most recent update on its website is a blog post from March 2019, and no later information is posted.

Why this organization's work stands out
It has a clear aspiration: to aim for a society where people and the earth live together through planting trees. Its long history, dating back to 1973, also speaks to a continuing commitment.
Continuing involvement in desert greening overseas from a regional city is also a useful reference as one way for citizens to take part in international cooperation.
Editor's comment
I was encouraged by a history of thinking about faraway desert greenery from a town in Iwate and acting on it.
The organization's aspirations and history are on the official website. Please take a look.
