Community for Children (C4C) is a general incorporated association that works to protect the basic rights of children growing up in difficult circumstances in Asia and to build communities where they can grow and develop in a healthy way. Its keyword is "communities for children, children for communities," with the hope that today's children will grow into people who contribute to their communities.

What sets its approach apart is working side by side with local partners. It has partner organizations in Thailand, the Philippines, Miyagi and Cambodia, each supporting community development where children grow up. Its stated programs include scholarships and other education support, environmental education and support for reviving and passing on local culture, research to clarify issues, and exchange through visits and workshops.

In Japan, C4C shares its work through video messages from its partners in each country, its newsletter "C4C Dayori," and its "I Do Cafe" events. The latest notice on its website is a New Year greeting dated January 8, 2026, and activity and financial reports going back to fiscal 2011 are published.

Key points

  • Community development carried out with local partners in Thailand, the Philippines, Miyagi and Cambodia
  • A broad range of programs, from scholarships to environmental education and cultural heritage support
  • Annual reports since fiscal 2011 and activity and financial reports are published on the website

Why this organization's work stands out

Its approach rests on the idea that raising children is the work of a whole community, not only of families, with local people at the center. Including Miyagi among its areas of activity is also a useful reference for connecting work at home and abroad.

There are ways to take part through membership and donations, and the newsletter, blog and reports let you follow its work closely. It is an organization whose information is easy to trace when you are considering support.

Editor's comment

The message from its representative, that children are treasures and the community is the field that nurtures them, stayed with me. Countries and regions differ, but the care for children is the same everywhere.

Introductions to each partner organization and the newsletter can be read on the official website. Please take a look.
