JHP – School Building Association has begun selling the JHP Charity Calendar 2027, which it says is popular every year. Titled "Smile Moment," it takes smiles, a kind of universal language, as its theme. All the photos show children from the communities JHP supports.
The wall calendar (30 cm x 42 cm when open) costs 600 yen and the desktop type 800 yen, with shipping charged separately. The organization suggests it is good for home use and as a gift. It can be purchased through the organization's website, by postal transfer, or at its Tokyo office.
Proceeds will support activities that provide education for children in Cambodia who want to learn. In Cambodia and Nepal, where conflict damaged the education system, JHP says it has built 394 school buildings and sanitation facilities, supported arts education (music and art), and offered literacy classes for parents, reaching more than 100,000 beneficiaries.
Key points
- Every photo in the calendar shows a child from a community JHP supports
- Buying it is a familiar way to take part in international cooperation, and proceeds support education in Cambodia
- Behind it lies broad education work: school construction, arts education and literacy classes
Why this news is worth noting
A calendar is something you see all year, so every turn of the page can remind you of children far away. Because buying it is itself a form of support, it is an easy first step into international cooperation.
It is also worth knowing that JHP works to improve learning environments not only by building schools but also through arts education and literacy classes for parents.
