World Vision Japan is appealing for Christmas donations to bring safe water and food to children in Africa and West Asia, where conflict and drought linked to climate change have deepened food crises.
As guides, JPY 5,000 provides water containers for two households in Sudan; JPY 10,000 provides one school meal for 240 children in South Sudan; and JPY 30,000 provides seven days of safe water for 191 people via water trucks in Sudan. The amounts are only a guide, and donors may give any amount.
Donations are eligible for tax deductions, and supporters receive a report on the activities in the annual report issued around March each year.
Key points
- Support for water supply systems in places such as Kenya where fetching water is difficult
- Grain distribution and cash for buying food in conflict-affected areas
- Clear examples of what each donation amount provides
Why this news stands out
It shows concretely what a donation does, which is helpful for anyone considering giving for the first time.
Activities are reported in an annual report, which is reassuring for supporters.

“As you both say, the amounts and support details use the source figures exactly. I also included the note that amounts are only a guide and optional.”
