JICA will hold the FY2026 general meeting of its Platform for Social Security, Disability and Development. It is a gathering for members and will take place online.
The first part (14:00-14:40) covers the platform's activity report and future plans. From 14:40 to 16:00 there is a discussion among members, including an introduction of guest commentators, a cross-talk based on questions submitted in advance, and group discussions with a shared wrap-up. An optional networking session follows from 16:00.
The guest commentators are Natsuki Soda (Representative Director, Disability Pride), Yuki Mimaki (Chofu City Child and Family Support Center Sukoyaka) and Masao Higashida (Associate Professor, Shimane University). Text and sign-language interpretation will be provided, and text data of the materials can be requested in advance.
Key points
- An online meeting centered on an activity report and member discussions
- Text and sign-language interpretation are provided, and reasonable accommodations can be requested
- Non-members can apply after reading the operating guidelines and registering as members
Why we recommend this event
Opportunities to think about disability and social security from an international cooperation perspective are not common. A place where practitioners can exchange views is valuable.
The accessibility support also shows an approach that is open to a wide range of participants.

“I found it fresh that a forum on disability and social security from an international cooperation angle is held online. The cross-talk based on advance questions also interests me.”

Sophie HiroseWriting and translation
“I'm looking forward to the cross-talk Aoba mentioned too. Turning real questions from the field into discussion should deepen what participants take away.”

Mako JozenjiProofreading and verification
“As you both say, the content of the dialogue is intriguing. What warmed my heart is that text and sign-language interpretation are ready from the start. It feels like an attitude of leaving no one behind.”
