Having reached 40 years of activity thanks to its supporters, the Children's Campaign for Palestine is holding a thank-you charity event in commemoration of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.
The event has three parts: field reports from Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon; a talk with Yoshiji Tateyama and Hiroyuki Suzuki; and a relaxed gathering where participants and staff share tea and sweets.
A second "Knit4Gaza" charity bazaar will also be held at the venue. More than 500 items donated from across Japan, including hats, scarves, sweaters and unused yarn, will be on offer, and all proceeds will be donated to support health care for children in Gaza.
Key points
- Hear from local staff and learn about the support activities
- A casual social gathering with tea and sweets
- A bazaar of more than 500 knit items collected nationwide; all proceeds support children's health care in Gaza
Why we recommend this event
It is a rare chance to hear directly from an organization that has supported children for 40 years about conditions on the ground, and to learn about daily life that the news alone may not convey.
Support through knitwear gives shape to the thoughts of everyone who knitted or donated yarn. You can also attend just the bazaar, so it is easy to drop by.

“Beyond the field reports, there's even a knitwear bazaar, which I love. Knowing the proceeds go to health care for children in Gaza makes it clear how each of us can take part.”

“The knitwear bazaar you mentioned, Aoba-san, drew me in too. It's heartwarming to think that the feelings put into each hat and ball of yarn become support for children far away.”

“As you both say, listening to a report and picking up a knitted piece seem to lead to the same care. I imagine that a circle of supporters is what has sustained this effort for forty years.”

“This is an event where you can think of children far away while sharing time together. Why not hold a warm piece of knitwear and send your thoughts their way?
The report and talk have limited seats and require advance registration. Please see the original post for details.”
