セミナー概要
セミナー言語:英語
India is one of the seventeen mega-biodiverse countries in the world. India also currently has a 1.3 billion plus human population, which exerts pressures on the natural and wilderness resources. Conserving the range of biological diversity on the one hand and meeting the needs of natural resource dependent human populations and moving ahead on the developmental trajectory on the other are both daunting tasks and formidable challenges. In response to the need for developing capacity to meet the biodiversity conservation challenges, the Wildlife Institute of India was established in 1986 as a technical arm of the Ministry of Environment & Forests, Government of India. Its mission is to “To nurture the development of Wildlife Science and promote its application in conservation, in consonance with cultural and socio-economic milieu”. The Institute’s goal is to build capacity through training, research, education and advisory services in the field of wildlife conservation and protected area management. Research-Management-Policy interface management is a key challenge. Promoting active collaboration, fostering partnerships and networking with national and international institutions of repute in various thematic areas of natural resource conservation is the way ahead.
