JAITI (pronounced "Jaichi") is a public interest incorporated foundation in Ueda, Nagano Prefecture, that has provided agricultural technology and educational support to Nepal since 1989. Its English name is the Japanese Agricultural In-service Training Institute.

Its official website has pages for news, profile, activities, business plans and results, volunteers, donations and newsletters. The newsletter continues to be published, and the January 2026 issue was number 70. In September 2026 the site also posted information on awareness-raising at a photo exhibition held in Ueda, Nagano, and on floods that occurred in central Nepal.

Ways to get involved include volunteering and donating, as well as recruitment of participants for a tour to visit schools and farms in Nepal. It explains that donors can receive tax benefits.

Key points

  • Support for agricultural technology and education in Nepal, continuing since 1989
  • A newsletter that has reached issue 70 (January 2026), showing steady communication
  • Many ways to take part, including volunteering, donations and tours of schools and farms in Nepal

Why this organization deserves attention

It has supported Nepal since 1989 in two fields that form the basis of daily life and the future: agricultural technology and education. Long, community-rooted continuity builds trust in its work.

While based in Ueda, Nagano, it conveys the situation in Nepal to people in Japan through photo exhibitions and newsletters. The tour to visit schools and farms on site looks like a valuable chance to get to know Nepal.

Editor's comment

It is quietly moving to think that a village in distant Nepal and a town in Nagano have been connected through a long history of support.

Newsletters and tour information can be read on the official website. Why not take a look?
