The Japan Association for the World Food Programme will mark the 15th anniversary of its Red Cup Campaign, which supports school meals in developing countries through everyday shopping, with a talk event titled "Beyond the Screen: A Step Toward a World Without Hunger with Marius Yo."
Marius Yo, the campaign's 15th anniversary official supporter, will join a talk session with a Japanese WFP staff member, followed by a quiz in which everyone takes part. The aim is to think together about global hunger and school meals.
The Red Cup Campaign donates part of the sales of participating products to WFP school meals support and began in 2011. Applications are accepted through a dedicated registration page.
Key points
- Held November 19 (Thu) from 6:30 p.m. at TOHO Cinemas Roppongi Hills
- Talk and quiz with Marius Yo and a WFP staff member on hunger issues
- The 1,500 yen fee goes entirely to school meals. Capacity is 100
Why we recommend this event
Hunger and school meals can feel distant when we only see the news. Hearing directly from someone who knows the field, and learning through a quiz, is a helpful way in.
Taking part is itself a donation to school meals support, so you can learn and contribute at the same time.

Editor's comment
It is wonderful that everyday shopping can connect to school meals for children around the world.
Capacity is 100 and applications open on October 14. If you are interested, why not check it out early?
