“March For An Inclusive America.” The march is to affirm our commitment to our Muslim sisters and brothers at a time when they need to know they have our support.
This family-friendly event will be held on Sunday, February 12th from 2 PM to just after 4 PM. We will gather in front of NHK Hall, at the very edge of Yoyogi Park (not within the main park itself) on the promenade called “Keyaki Namiki.” (Please see map in photo ― the "You are here" marker is where we will gather.)
The march will be positive and inclusive. To encourage that tone and assure a safe space for all, we will thank participants in advance for avoiding negative signs/slogans, and instead carry such positive messages as:
Build Bridges Not Walls We Stand With Muslims Immigrants Make America Great Diversity Makes America Great Inclusion Makes America Great Stronger Together Solidarity With Refugees Everywhere Inclusion For All
As a matter of course, we will be mindful of Japanese laws/customs and our responsibilities here in Japan.
Our goal is to gather at least 500 people to show support to those affected by the recent Muslim ban and other Trump Administration actions impinging on the human rights of members of our shared global community.
We would greatly appreciate your help in disseminating information about the “March For An Inclusive America” as quickly and to as broad a group as possible! |
