e-Education is holding an online event for people interested in work related to international cooperation and education support. With so many options, from international organizations and JICA to development consulting, the event explores why the speaker chose e-Education and what an education development consultant actually does.
The speaker is Toyama Hiroki, an education development consultant. After serving as a JICA Overseas Cooperation Volunteer in Ghana in ICT education, he worked in education administration and community development in Japan, studied at a graduate school in the UK, and joined e-Education in October 2025. He now travels between Africa and Asia, working with education ministries and schools to improve the quality of education.
The talk is expected to cover what decided his choice, the rewards and difficulties of the job, and the gaps between expectation and reality after about a year. A Q&A session with participants follows the talk.
Key points
- A chance to hear first-hand about a career in international cooperation
- Helpful for comparing paths such as JICA, international organizations, and NGOs
- Free, online, with time for questions
Why we recommend this event
Even if you are interested in international cooperation, it is hard to see from the outside what paths exist and what the work is like. Hearing a staff member talk about their own experience in their own words can help you think about your career.
For those interested in working for an NPO or NGO, or in taking initiative in a small organization, this is a chance to get a concrete picture.
