Why this news deserves attention

After a major disaster, the needs on the ground become harder to see as time passes. Learning from official announcements how large the damage is and what support is continuing is a first step toward thinking about international cooperation.

This announcement describes the aid as "additional," showing that support for the affected areas is being layered on as the situation develops rather than ending after a single delivery.

Editor's comment

The figures are hard to read without being lost for words. Still, it is reassuring that needed equipment continues to be delivered in response to the local government's requests.

Some NGOs are working in the affected areas of Nepal and some are accepting donations. Please check each organization's official site for the latest information, and we hope you will keep the region in your thoughts in whatever way you can.
