Meijo University's International Center is recruiting participants for its Overseas Volunteer and Internship Program, to be held in Cebu, the Philippines, in spring of the 2026 academic year. The program aims to give students practical experience that is hard to gain from university study alone, through activities at facilities and companies overseas.

The program runs for 14 days from January 31 to February 13, 2027. Participants stay in shared hotel rooms, and the language used is English. Selection is based on document screening and an interview. There are five courses: volunteering at an NGO-run orphanage, a hotel internship in Cebu City, an internship at Mactan-Cebu International Airport, teaching practice at a local public school, and an internship at a travel-related organization.

Those who wish to participate must attend one of the information sessions: October 27 (Tue) at the Nagoya Dome-mae Campus or October 28 (Wed) at the Tempaku Campus. The content is the same on both days, and no advance reservation is required. Students who cannot attend either are asked to contact the center by October 23.

Key points

  • Choose from five courses, including volunteering at an NGO facility
  • A 14-day on-site program with real opportunities to use English
  • Two session dates, with no reservation needed

Why we recommend this event

Many students are interested in international cooperation but unsure how to take the first step. A short overseas volunteer program can be a gateway to experiencing local life and challenges firsthand.

On the same days, an information session for a program in Bangkok, Thailand will also be held, so students can compare options and think about which experience suits them.

Editor's comment

Activities overseas can be a great opportunity to broaden your horizons. Meijo University students, please consider dropping in on an info session.

Even if you are not a student, programs like this can be a clue to how you might get involved in international cooperation on the ground.
