The Wesley Foundation is a public interest incorporated foundation established in 2010 with the purpose of deepening international mutual understanding on the basis of Christ's spirit of universal love, contributing to the healthy mental and physical development of people through education, and contributing to the advancement of social welfare. Its vision is "Be Empowered for Transformation," and it aims to understand and respect one another's gifts and work together to solve social issues.
Its three missions are for every woman to recognize her gifts and contribute proactively to society; to develop next-generation leaders who live and serve together with people around the world; and to learn about social issues at home and abroad, cooperate with partners in Japan and overseas, and support that work through grants. It plans and carries out international programs, domestic programs, and seminars and lectures throughout the year.
Its grant programs include activity grants, educational grants such as tuition grants, and special activity support funds. Through international collaborative projects, it works with partner organizations in Japan and abroad to support human resource development and community self-reliance aimed at improving economic disparity, welfare, health care and education. It also offers internship opportunities and rents out meeting rooms in its center.
Key points
- Three missions: women's empowerment, nurturing the next generation and solving social issues
- International programs such as leadership training for young women and a work camp in Cambodia
- Grant programs, such as activity grants and educational grants, that support other organizations and next-generation talent
Why this organization deserves attention
It addresses the same three missions through several methods: running programs, supporting through grants, and collaborative projects with partner organizations. It links activities that develop people with activities that face social issues.
Depending on age and position, there are many ways to get involved, including training, seminars, internships and grants. There are also chances for on-site experience, such as a work camp held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, in August 2026.

Editor's comment
The words "I change, and so I change the world" resonate honestly. It is a foundation that makes us feel that a step toward society begins with recognizing our own strengths.
