The Caux Round Table (CRT) is a global network of business leaders aiming to make society freer, fairer and more transparent through business. It was founded in Switzerland and set out the "CRT Principles for Business" in 1994.
In Japan it has been active since 1986 with its secretariat housed in another organization, was organized as CRT Japan in April 2000, and became a nonprofit corporation in 2006. Based on the idea of "putting oneself right first, and asking not who is right but what is right," it supports the effective practice of CSR by companies.
Its work covers four areas: spreading CSR, developing people for a fair society, seminars, and international cooperation. Focusing on the corporate implementation of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, it offers support for human rights initiatives, stakeholder dialogue, education and training.

Why this organization deserves attention
As interest grows in the effects of business on society and the environment, helping companies act in practical ways is an important role for society as a whole. Its emphasis on fairness and neutrality is also a feature.
It shares information, such as seminar announcements and calls for public comment, that anyone can read, not only people in business. This makes it an entry point for learning about business and human rights.

Editor's comment
Behind the goods and services we use every day are the efforts of many people. Work that connects companies and society quietly supports parts of life we do not see.
The announcements on the official website include seminar information. Why not take a look if you are interested?
