It is a particularly effective tool for the poor and powerless as they determine for themselves the actions they will take to deal with the essential forces that are destroying their community and consequently causing them to be powerless.\n-Reverend Robert Linthicum, World Vision International\n\nCommunity organizing and DAO aims to:\nWin concrete improvements in people’s lives.\nMake people aware of their own power.\nAlter relations of power\n\nKey elements:\nCollective action by those directly affected.\nOnly the people affected can make change happen.\nChanging basic power relationships the only way to change conditions.\n\nUnderlying Assumptions\nGovernment needs to be accountable to the people\nPeople have the right to speak or act on social and political issues. (freedom of speech, assembly, thought etc.)\nPeople need to keep the government in check.
